E Commerce working made easy

Some pointers that help understand the working of E commerce

To explain how e commerce works is not that difficult a task. E commerce is simply the exchange of goods and/or services electronically.

If you have bought remote controlled cars from eBay, Amazon.com or any online store, then you have participated in e commerce. You also participate in e commerce by downloading music from sites like Napster or iTunes. To initiate the understanding of e commerce let's take a look at its various types.

B2B: E commerce was founded with B2B or business-to-business e commerce as its cornerstone. Banks and other businesses began sharing and transferring files and information electronically as early as 1960s. This sharing of files and information could not expand, since there wasn't one specific standard for conducting this business. Hence some businesses were unsuccessful in transferring with each other. The 80s was when B2B e commerce really took off with the setting up of a reliable standard which made it possible for all to use the same method and hence exchange files much more easily.

C2C: One of the popular forms of e commerce today is consumer-to-consumer or C2C. Purchasing anything online from another person via an ad posting on an electronic board or an online auction, instead of a business makes you a participant of consumer to consumer e commerce. Online auctions are the most popular manifestation of consumer-to-consumer e commerce, eBay, the gigantic site which allows users to put up their goods and sell them to the highest bidder is a well known example of the same.

P2P: P2P or peer-to-peer e commerce was initiated by Napster which enabled users to share files free of cost. Now there are several similar websites and file-sharing programs and systems online.

B2C: Majority of e commerce transactions take place from business-to-consumer without the mention of which, the working of e commerce cannot be explained. Purchase of anything at an online store or website, be it download of something electronic or an item which has to be shipped to its buyer are all forms of e commerce. Working of e commerce can be easily explained if you keep in mind the following things.

E commerce comprises of one or more of the following, all of which are transactions that are conducted online: Information exchange or Money transfers or Goods/Services exchange. Simple concepts can be used to explain how e commerce works in your favor. For instance, if you wish to purchase a book, there are several online bookstores which you can use to compare the prices of that book and find the lowest one. By comparing the different stores in terms of their shipping costs and travel times, you can select a store which ships you the book at the earliest for the lowest price.

All of this can be achieved without having gas rc cars, fight crowds, or spend money for transportation or gas. Perceiving the advantages of e commerce is simple, when you take into account the fact that you can comparison shop so easily, for small and large items. Though we can go on to actually cover the various advantages of e commerce, you will experience them personally when you actually purchase an item using this method.
